Artificial Intelligence (AI) has revolutionised industries worldwide and Pakistan must seize this opportunity to drive economic growth. As a developing nation, Pakistan faces significant challenges, including unemployment, low productivity, and limited innovation. However, AI presents an opportunity to overcome these barriers by transforming traditional industries and fostering innovation. AI can enhance productivity in agriculture, which is the backbone of Pakistan’s economy. Through AI-driven data analytics and precision farming techniques, farmers can optimise crop yields, reduce water usage, and improve resource allocation. Additionally, AI can revolutionise the manufacturing sector by streamlining production processes and reducing human error. This will lead to increased output, reduced costs, and higher-quality products, making Pakistani goods more competitive globally.
Moreover, AI has the potential to create new job opportunities in tech-related fields such as software development, machine learning, and data science. While there is concern about AI replacing jobs, it is essential to understand that it also creates demand for skilled workers who can manage and maintain AI systems. To harness this potential, Pakistan must focus on upskilling its youth by introducing AI and data science in educational institutions and providing training programmes to bridge the skills gap.
