Dubai development delegation briefed on LDA working

LAHORE:A seven-member delegation of Dubai Land Development (DLD) visited the Lahore Development Authority office here on Thursday.

DG LDA Tahir Farooq welcomed the delegation and gave a briefing on the working of LDA. He briefed that reforms are being introduced in LDA in line with the vision of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, transforming LDA into a paperless organisation through IT-based reforms.

The meeting, chaired by DG LDA, briefed delegation on master plan, property management, monitoring, town planning, land use regulations, and building and zoning rules. The delegation was also briefed on private housing schemes, the Citizen Facilitation Centre, and mega projects.

Detailed information was provided on LDA’s ongoing records digitisation efforts. The meeting discussed proposals related to the overselling and monitoring mechanisms of private housing schemes.

The delegation suggested reforms introducing escrow accounts in the development sector, improving housing scheme management, and other issues like development and maintenance charges. Dubai Land Development will present its recommendations for further improvements in LDA’s working based on their visit and findings.

DG LDA Tahir Farooq praised working of Dubai Land Development and said that LDA will get benefit from their experiences. He added that MoU with Dubai Land Development is providing technical assistance to LDA in different areas. With DLD support, LDA will adopt latest trends in real estate sector. Later, the delegation visited the Citizen Facilitation Centre and the Property Transfer Cell. DLD team appreciated the online building plan approval process of LDA. At the end of the visit, DG LDA Tahir Farooq presented souvenirs to the delegation. It is worth mentioning that earlier this year an MoU was signed between LDA and Dubai Land Development on the directions of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
