Islamabad:A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL) and Vietnam Writers Association, says a press release.
The MoU was signed by Dr. Najeeba Arif, Chairperson of Pakistan Academy of Letters and Poet Nguyen Quang Thieu, President of Vietnam Writers Association at a ceremony held in Hanoi, Vietnam. The signing ceremony was witnessed by Kohdayar Marri, the Ambassador of Pakistan to Vietnam. In his remarks, Mr. Khoyar Marri hoped that the MoU would abet in bridging the gaps between arts and literature of both countries and enhance people-to-people contact. He also looked forward to exchange of delegations, translation of literary works and collaboration between literary institutes of Pakistan and Vietnam. He expressed gratitude for Vietnam Writers Association for cooperation and for organization of the signing ceremony in a befitting manner. Moreover, he highlighted that collaboration in arts and culture was an apt conduit for sharing our heritage and collective memory as mankind.
The ceremony was attended by members of diplomatic corps and prominent poets as well as writers of Vietnam. The ceremony was covered by numerous Newspapers and Television channels of Vietnam. At the conclusion of the ceremony, the participants were entertained with Pakistani cuisine and refreshments arranged by the Pakistani Mission. Dr. Najeeba Arif, Chairperson of Pakistan Academy of Letters, expressed her compliments to the Vietnam Writers Association and gratitude to the Pakistan’s Mission in Vietnam.
