LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has restructured its selection committee, reducing its size from seven to five members.

In a significant move, the PCB has granted full authority to the new selectors, who will now hold the final say in determining Pakistan’s playing eleven, marking a decisive shift in the team selection process.

The newly appointed selectors — Aaqib Javed, Aleem Dar, Azhar Ali, Asad Shafiq, and Hassan Cheema — will be responsible for selecting the national squad and deciding the playing eleven. This restructuring removes the captain and head coach from the official selection process, although they will still be consulted by the selectors.

According to the PCB, while the captain and coach will share their insights and preferences, they will no longer have voting rights, leaving the final decisions solely in the hands of the selection committee. This change is aimed at streamlining the selection process and providing a clear structure for decision-making.

In a recent update on its website, the PCB outlined this new selection policy, clarifying that non-voting members, such as assistant coach Azhar Mahmood, director of High-Performance Nadeem Khan, and chairman advisor Bilal Afzal, have also been removed from the selection process.
