PESHAWAR: Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) chairman Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao on Thursday vowed that he would spare no effort to help the Pakhtuns get their due rights.

He was speaking at a gathering at the Watan Kor, the secretariat of QWP, to mark the 12th foundation day of the nationalist party. A large number of party workers from all over the province attended the gathering. A cake was cut to celebrate the occasion.

Recalling the services his party had rendered for the cause of the Pakhtuns, Aftab Sherpao said the QWP leadership and its workers faced many terrorist attacks, but the party did not falter in its resolve to serve the Pakhtuns and highlight their problems. He vowed the QWP leadership would continue serving the Pakhtuns without any consideration for political affiliation.

Commenting on the prevailing political situation, Aftab Sherpao said the 2024 general election added to the uncertainty, which the country was facing before the polls. “This government is the byproduct of the rigged election,” he said, adding that the fake representatives of the people lacked the ability to steer the country out of the prevailing crises. He maintained that even the agreement of the International Monetary Fund did not produce the desired results.

He explained that the country could not progress without the restoration of peace coupled with political instability. He remarked that economic stability was linked to political stability. The QWP leader shed light on the challenges facing the country.

Aftab Sherpao expressed concern over the worsening law and order in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa particularly the southern belt, asking the government to take corrective steps or else the situation would spiral out of control. Though the PTI had been ruling KP for the third term, it failed to project the rights of the province, he said, adding the PTI government was least bothered to secure the rights of KP, including the arrears of the net hydel profit.
