QUETTA: During a session of the Balochistan Assembly, both government and opposition members staged a walkout against a raid at the home of Sardar Muhammad Saleh Bhootani in Karachi.
The Balochistan chief minister declared the matter outside the boundaries of Balochistan.
On Wednesday, during the assembly session, Balochistan Awami Party member Agha Umar Ahmadzai expressed concern over the raid on the provincial president of the Balochistan Awami Party, Sardar Muhammad Saleh Bhootani’s house in Karachi, where women from his family were present. He called this an infringement of tradition, privacy, and decorum.
He emphasised that non-traditional actions and violations of customs should not occur in the province, stating that they had previously walked out over this issue and now he would do so again, urging all members to join him. In response, Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti said that no raid had occurred on Sardar Saleh Bhootani’s home within Balochistan’s boundaries; it had taken place outside the province, and they could do nothing about incidents outside provincial limits.
Subsequently, members of the Balochistan Awami Party and other opposition parties walked out in protest.
