The Pakistan Customs intercepted an attempt to smuggle methamphetamine concealed within a parcel of books on Wednesday. According to a customs spokesperson, Collector of Customs Adeem Khan received confidential information regarding an attempt to smuggle prohibited drugs out of Pakistan via a parcel.

Upon receiving this tip, the airport collector directed Additional Collector of Customs Muhammad Faisal Khan to take immediate action to prevent the potential smuggling. Faisal Khan formed special teams, supervised by Assistant Collector of Customs Sharjeel Wassan, to monitor all cargo handling points in Karachi. These teams conducted rigorous surveillance of parcels destined for international locations, including scanning and inspecting suspicious shipments.

As a result, customs staff at the International Mail Office (Export) opened a parcel of books sent from Hyderabad to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, addressed to Mujahid Javed Khan, due to suspicions. Upon inspection, they discovered ice crystal powder (methamphetamine) skillfully concealed within the book covers, a finding confirmed using a narcotics testing kit.
