LAHORE:The University of Education, Lahore, inaugurated the third international conference titled ‘Zoological Emerging Scientific Trends (ZEST 2024)’ on Wednesday.

This two-day event brought together scholars from nine countries, including Turkey, Denmark, the United States, Poland, the UAE, Austria, Thailand, South Korea, and the UK, as well as 23 Pakistani scholars, participating both in person and virtually.

A total of 152 research papers will be presented over the course of the conference, with a total of 1,400 participants in attendance. The event was presided over by the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Education, Lahore, Prof Dr Akif Anwar Chaudhry. The chief guest was Prof Dr Muhammad Ali, Vice-Chancellor of Punjab University, with Prof Dr Abdul Majeed Cheema as the guest of honour.

Prof Dr Shagufta Andleeb, Chairperson of the Department of Zoology, provided an overview of the conference objectives. In his address, Prof Dr Akif Anwar Chaudhry emphasised that the conference serves as a valuable opportunity for scholars to learn from each other. The primary aim of ZEST 2024 is to provide an international platform for researchers to share their latest research, innovations, and experiences in zoology. He expressed his belief that the event would pave the way for increased collaboration, internationalisation, and networking among zoological scientists.

Prof Dr Muhammad Ali referred to the present century as the ‘era of life sciences,’ highlighting how advancements in the health sector are a significant part of this field. He congratulated Prof Dr Akif Anwar Chaudhry and the University of Education, Lahore, for successfully organising the event. A large number of faculty members, students, staff, and individuals from various sectors attended the conference. More than 10 poster presenters also contributed to the event.

PU lecturer wins powerlifting medals

Punjab University’s lecturer at Sports Sciences and Physical Education Department M Abdul Jabar Adnan has won four silver medals at Commonwealth Powerlifting Championship 2024 at Sun City, South Africa. Adnan has already won the gold medal at Asian Classic Powerlifting Championship at Hong Kong. PU VC Prof Dr M Ali congratulated him for such a wonderful performance.
