Uplift schemes approved for remote areas

LAHORE:Commissioner Zaid Bin Maqsood has approved dozens of uplift schemes in a meeting of Lahore Development Plan and Development Schemes of other districts held here on Wednesday under the chairmanship of Lahore Commissioner Zaid Bin Maqsood.

In the divisional meeting, 208 Lahore Development Plan schemes and four road sectors schemes of District Kasur were presented while a total of 94 MCL schemes have been taken up in the committee under the development plan and 114 schemes of Wasa were presented for approval.

The working committee under the chairmanship of the commissioner reviewed details of each scheme, scope of work, coordinates, pictorial presentations and approved all. A briefing was taken from all the assistant commissioners concerned on all the schemes of Lahore Development Plan. The commissioner said Chief Minister Punjab Lahore Development Plan is focusing on all the neglected and backward areas of the city. Durability and standard of work will be continuously monitored, he said.

The committee chaired by the commissioner approved all the schemes of Lahore Development Plan. He directed that a complete review is being done to avoid duplication of schemes under Lahore Development Plan.

He said that PTCL, SNGPL and other agencies must be informed that there will be no digging after the implementation of the Lahore Development Plan. In the divisional meeting, four schemes of road sector of Kasur were also presented for approval. The commissioner said that the quality and deadline and timelines of each development schemes must be followed accordingly.

LWMC CEO listens to public concerns

In a significant move towards improving public services, the Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) Chief Executive Officer Babar Sahib Din held a Khuli Kachehri on Lahore Fort Road, which was attended by a large number of people and political representatives.

During the session, CEO Babar Sahib Din listened to the public concerns and issued directives to the relevant officers to address them promptly. He also emphasised that special measures are being implemented to enhance the cleanliness of the walled city. Political representatives highlighted the increasing number of tourists and businessmen visiting provincial capital daily from across Pakistan.

Responding to the requests of public representatives, it was announced that the number of sanitation workers in eight union councils of Lahore would be increased within the week. Additionally, 50 new handcarts and more rickshaws will be provided to further improve the sanitation system in the walled city. According to LWMC spokesperson Umar Ch, several prominent figures attended the Khuli Kachehri, including PMLN women MPs Madam Sumbal, Baji Mumtaz, UC Chairman Ghulam Dastagir, Malik Mateen, Jawed Samad, Ch Nazaft, Ch Faisal, UC representatives Shahid Noor, Mumtaz, Ch Aslam, Arif Kashmiri, Haji Makki and Khalid Bhatti etc.

Babar also ordered the deployment of sanitation workers on night shifts around Fort Road and Food Street to maintain cleanliness in those areas. The participants expressed their appreciation for the cleanliness efforts in Lahore by raising slogans of "Punjab Govt Zindabad" and "LWMC Zindabad".

LWMC CEO reiterated that in line with the directives of the Punjab chief Minister, the Khuli Kachehri is being held across various towns in phases to resolve public issues effectively. Babar also congratulated Zonal Officer of the Walled City of Lahore M Akbar for receiving excellent feedback from the public and announced a certificate of appreciation in recognition of his efforts.
