ISLAMABAD: Sajid Khan, who ripped apart England’s middle-order on the second day evening, Wednesday saw a golden opportunity for Pakistan to level the series, saying that 300 runs would be enough for the spinners to defend in the fourth innings.
In a media talk at the close of the second day’s play, Sajid said Pakistan were looking forward to around 100 runs first innings lead. “I am confident we would be in a position to take around 100 runs first innings lead. If we succeed in scoring around 200 batting for the second time, I am confident we will go on to defend 300.”
Sajid added that all you required was to introduce variety into your attack. “Bowling straight does not fetch you anything here. Maintaining outside the off stump line backed by variety helps you take wickets.”
At the same time Sajid was disappointed as the selectors ignored him time and again. “Throughout my career whenever I performed, the next series you would not find me anywhere. I hardly get consistent opportunities to express myself. I did not get an opportunity during the Bangladesh series and again in the first Test.” He was excited to pick Joe Root and Harry Brook’s wickets. Both played outstanding cricket in the first Test. Bowling them out one after another was encouraging for me.”
