Provincial Ombudsman Office role termed vital

CHARSADDA: Bacha Khan University, Charsadda, (BKUC) Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Zahid Hussain said on Wednesday that Provincial Ombudsman Office was playing a pivotal role in the provision of immediate and cheap justice to the complainants.

“In case of any complaint, people can easily approach the office of the provincial ombudsman and they could get swift justice,” he said while addressing a one-day awareness seminar jointly organised by the Department of Political Science and the Provincial Ombudsman Office.

Provincial Ombudsman Syed Jamaluddin Shah, Assistant Director Kamran Khan, Advisor to the Provincial Ombudsman Shahid Hussain, heads of various departments and students also participated in the seminar.

Dr Zahid Hussain said that students played an important role in building a balanced and corruption-free society.He urged the students to raise awareness among the people about the establishment of the Provincial Ombudsman so that many grievances of the people could be addressed. He also stressed the need for adopting a spirit of patriotism and working towards strengthening the country.

Provincial Ombudsman Syed Jamaluddin said that the primary purpose of the establishment of the Provincial Ombudsman Office was not only to improve the performance of institutions but also to ensure the prompt resolution of public grievances.

“Thousands of people, who cannot afford the expenses of the judicial system and are being deprived of their rights, are being provided with immediate, easy, and affordable justice by the Provincial Ombudsman Office, which helps maintain balance in society,” he elaborated.

The main objective of holding awareness seminars at universities is to spread the message of the Provincial Ombudsman so that corruption and mismanagement can be eradicated at all levels of society.According to statistics, over 4,000 complaints have been received by the Provincial Ombudsman Office this year, and most of these complaints have been resolved.
