PESHAWAR: The Commissioner Peshawar Division, Riaz Khan Mahsud, has directed the relevant officials to make necessary arrangements to ensure the holding of peaceful, fair and transparent conduct of local government by-elections scheduled for October 20 in Peshawar, Charsadda and Nowshera.
Chairing a meeting on Tuesday to review the preparations for the by-elections in 10 neighborhood and village council constituencies, Riaz Mahsud stressed that district administration, police, and the district election commission must work in close coordination.
He directed the immediate installation of CCTV cameras at sensitive polling stations and ordered the deployment of police personnel a day ahead of the elections to ensure security.Senior officials from the district administrations, police, and election commissions of Peshawar, Nowshera, and Charsadda attended the meeting.
Riaz Mahsud emphasized the need for full implementation of the security and administrative plans, leaving no room for complacency.“The integrity of the election process must be upheld at all costs, and every step must be taken to maintain law and order on election day,” Riaz Mahsud stated, underscoring the significance of transparent elections. The commissioner assured that all necessary measures have been put in place to ensure that voters can exercise their right in a peaceful environment.
