Five uplift schemes worth over Rs8bn approved

LAHORE:In the 37th meeting of the Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) for the fiscal year 2024-25, Planning and Development (P&D) Board acting Chairman Dr Asif Tufail approved the five development schemes worth Rs8.471 billion.

The approved schemes included Establishment of a state-of-the-art Wildlife Hospital at Safari Zoo, Lahore, at a cost of Rs2.482 billion, Chief Minister Wildlife Rescue Force at a cost of Rs2.363 billion, Immersive Wildlife Experience (cinema and moving theatre) in Punjab at a cost of Rs1.765 billion, Environmental Monitoring of Industrial Units (DLI 1-3, PGDP World Bank) at a cost of Rs861 million and Replacement of Old/Condemned Equipment of PFSA at a cost of Rs1 billion. Additionally, the Punjab Tourism for Economic Growth Project (PTEGP) – World Bank-assisted scheme is recommended for CDWP at a cost of Rs12.472 billion. The meeting was attended by Chief Economist Masood Anwar, members of the P&D Board, and other senior officials.

LWMC intensifies operation

The Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) Tuesday intensified cleanliness operation in different localities of Lahore.

During last week, the LWMC disposed of more than 40,000 tonnes of garbage and cleared over 600 open plots across the City. LWMC Chief Executive Officer Babar Sahib Din inspected Thokar Chowk, Raiwind Road, Bhubtian Chowk, Adda Plot, and Pine Avenue, Canal Road, Allama Iqbal Road, Garhi Shahu, Sheikh Zayed Hospital, Jinnah Hospital, and Doctor Hospital. He asked LWMC staff to remove debris from roads and keep pedestrian bridges along Canal Road clean.
