LAHORE: For the first time in the history of Punjab, the implementation of the program for the establishment of micro-libraries and the construction of “City Walls” to highlight the culture of small towns has been started.

The program has been started from Wazirabad, a literary and commercial city of Punjab. According to the details received by “Jang” about the Chief Minister’s “Read Punjab Programme”, racks containing books of micro-libraries have been placed in all public parks, waiting areas of bus and railway stations in Wazirabad.

Initially, more than 1,000 books are kept in the racks of books kept at 15 different places for the people of Wazirabad and travellers coming from other cities, while in the next two to three months, 1,000 more books will be added.

The main objective of the program is to provide a healthy activity through reading books to people sitting in parks or waiting at bus and train stations. Rainproof sheets have been installed on these racks to protect the books from rain and weather effects. Under the vision of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif to highlight the culture of small towns, special walls have been built to depict the history and culture of the city in Wazirabad tehsil, which has now been given the status of a district. The Wall of Wazirabad, Wall of Alipur Chatha and Wall of Gakhar have been built in three cities by the administration of Wazirabad tehsil.
