PESHAWAR: Amid division over the Islamabad March in the party, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur vowed to lead Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers towards Islamabad today, Tuesday and stage a sit-in at D-Chowk against the government for not allowing the party leadership to meet the founding chairman Imran Khan in Adiala jail.
“We have made preparations for the Islamabad march and I will personally lead the party workers from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. We are seriously concerned about the health of our party leader Imran Khan in jail,” Ali Amin Gandapur told The News.
After reaching Islamabad, he said they would go to D-Chowk and stage a sit-in against the government. “There is unrest among the party workers and the government has banned meetings with Imran Khan. Neither the party leaders nor lawyers are allowed to meet the PTI founding chairman in jail, leaving no other option for us than to protest in the federal capital,” the chief minister argued.
He said that the PTI meeting decided to march towards Islamabad on October 15. There is division among the PTI central leaders over the Islamabad protest on October 15-16, where the world leaders have arrived for the two-day Shanghai Cooperation Organization’s summit. The government has deployed Pakistan army troops in Islamabad for the summit.
