LAHORE: As part of its ongoing campaign against gas theft, Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) has conducted a series of operations across Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Islamabad, resulting in the disconnection of 121 illegal connections and the imposition of Rs3.5 million in fines. In Lahore, the SNGPL team disconnected 15 connections for illegal gas usage and one for compressor use, imposing fines totalling Rs0.59 million.
In Gujranwala, four illegal connections were severed, with fines amounting to Rs0.06 million. Faisalabad saw the disconnection of three illegal connections, resulting in Rs0.03 million in penalties. The team in Sheikhupura disconnected one connection and imposed a fine of Rs1.04 million.
In Multan, 18 illegal connections were cut off, along with five more for compressor use. In Sahiwal, one illegal connection and two compressor-related cases were addressed, while in Bahawalpur, 10 compressor-related cases were identified and disconnected.
Operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were also vigorous. In Mardan, the team disconnected 13 illegal connections and imposed fines of Rs1.21 million. In Karak, 38 illegal connections and one compressor-related case were found, resulting in Rs0.64 million in fines, along with 40 FIRs being filed. In Gujrat, one illegal connection and two compressor-related cases were resolved, with fines totalling Rs0.02 million.
In Islamabad, one illegal connection was disconnected, while in Rawalpindi, two illegal connections were cut off. In Sargodha, three illegal connections were also addressed.
