PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Monday granted transit bail to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Deputy Speaker Suriya Bibi and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) members of the Punjab Assembly Raja Basharat and Sanam Javed till November 3 with directives to appear before the relevant courts.
A single PHC bench comprising Justice Fahim Wali heard the petitions of the PTI leaders. The bench also granted transit bail to PTI leader from Punjab Aalia Hamza till November 8 and directed her to appear before the relevant forums. A lawyer, Alam Khan Adenzai Advocate, appeared in the court on behalf of the petitioners.
He told the court that cases had been filed against Aalia Hama, Raja Basharat and Sanam Javed in Mianwali, Taxila and Hassananad, respectively. The lawyer said that a case was also registered against KP Assembly Deputy Speaker Suriya Bibi in Hassanabdal.
He told the bench that the cases were politically motivated, adding that his clients intended to appear before the relevant courts, but feared arrest. After hearing the arguments, the bench granted transit bail to the petitioners and directed them to appear before the relevant courts.
