Islamabad:Jiang Zaidong, the Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan, has said that improvements in Pakistan’s energy sector due to Chinese investments are substantial noting that these projects did not only strengthen the country's energy infrastructure but also created significant job opportunities for Pakistani youth, empowering them with various skill sets.
Mr Zaidong was speaking at an event to launch two reports ‘The glorious 11 years – how Chinese companies reshaped the power sector in Pakistan” and “Business climate index of Chinese companies in Pakistan organised here by China Chamber of Commerce in Pakistan (CCCPK) in collaboration with Institute of Regional Studies (IRS). Mr Zaidong emphasised the transformative impact Chinese companies had on reshaping Pakistan’s future. He remarked on how these investments contributed to the improvement of Pakistan’s foreign reserves underscoring the mutual benefits of China-Pakistan cooperation.
Senate Chairperson Yousaf Raza Gilani addressing the attendees said that the launch of these reports attests to the transparency of Chinese investment in Pakistan and efficiency within Pakistan's power sector. He reiterated that Pakistan continues to benefit from China's unwavering support and investment which is a testament to the deep and growing economic partnership between the two countries.
Ata Tarar, Minister for Information, congratulated the Chinese companies for their impressive success, acknowledging the wide array of opportunities that China offers Pakistan. He expressed optimism about future collaboration underscoring the potential for even greater economic cooperation.
Minister for Finance, Muhammad Aurangzeb, praised the role of Chinese companies and their significant contributions to Pakistan’s economic development. He highlighted how these investments were pivotal in driving growth, improving infrastructure and providing critical support to key sectors. PPP Senator Saleem Mandviwalla underscored the importance of China's ongoing role in uplifting Pakistan’s economy. He acknowledged the strategic significance of the Chinese investments and their long-term positive effects on the country’s development.
The launch of the key reports was celebrated as a major milestone in further strengthening the already robust economic ties between Pakistan and China.
