The upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit 2024 in Islamabad is a matter of pride for all Pakistanis. There are discussions taking place among intellectuals and policymakers regarding the outcomes of the efforts made so far since its inception. One of the issues is India’s apparent waning interest in pursuing the SCO’s main objective of promoting regional connectivity, which warrants resolution of territorial and border disputes.
Consequently, the Indo-Pak and Indo-China territorial/border disputes linger on, frustrating regional connectivity. Security challenges emanating from Afghanistan also present major barriers. Hopefully, these issues will be given serious consideration in the upcoming summit.
