NOWSHERA: Robbers donning police uniforms on Sunday forced their entry into the house of a Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) local leader and decamped with cash and valuables, sources said.

Fawad Khan, son of Ilyas Khan, said his family members were asleep when the unidentified robbers scaled the wall of the house and opened the main door to let other accomplices in by breaking open the lock.

The complainant said the robbers were seven in number and confined his parents to a room and went to the room of his cousin, Waqas Khan, on the second floor of the house. He said his cousin overpowered his cousin who offered resistance.

The complainant said the robbers took cash, three cell phones and other valuables from the room. Fawad Khan said the robbers then went to the room of his father and wanted to search for the valuables saying that they were cops and were conducting the operation after receiving intelligence reports.

The complainant said the robbers wanted to enter more rooms but faced resistance. He said neighbors got wind of the situation and opened fire on the robbers forcing them to flee. He said he and other male members of the family chased after the robbers by opening fire but the robbers fled on bikes parked outside the home.

The complainant said the footage of the CCTV camera had been handed over to police for an investigation. The people of the area protested the lawlessness and asked the police high-ups to increase patrolling to stop such incidents in the future.
