4 killed as rivals trade fire in Kolai-Palas

MANSEHRA: Four persons, including a woman, were killed and as many injured when two rival groups exchanged fire over a land dispute in Khalyar area in Kolai-Palas district on Sunday.

“We have shifted the injured and dead to a nearby health facility following an exchange of fire between two rival groups,” District Police Officer, Kolai-Palas, Amjad Hussain told reporters.Sources said that Ilyas Sharango and his family members were on way back home from their summer abode in the mountainous part when the rival group led by Mustajab Shamir allegedly opened indiscriminate fire on them. As a result, Ilyas Sharango, Lal Mohammad and Gul Bibi died on the spot while Riaz Kabal, Tasleem Siraj and Zahir Shah sustained injuries.

In the retaliatory fire, the sources said, Mustajab Shamir was killed and Peer Wali Shah sustained injuries. A police party rushed to the area and shifted the bodies and injured to Civil Hospital in Pattan (Lower Kohistan).

The bodies were handed over to their respective families after completion of the medico-legal legal formalities while the injured were shifted to the Ayub Medical Complex Hospital Abbottabad. The DPO said that both groups were close relatives and raids were being conducted to arrest the accused.
