NOWSHERA: Five to six armed robbers, dressed in police uniforms, snatched cellphones, cash and a pick-up vehicle loaded with persimmons near Taru Jabba on GT Road and fled the scene.
The robbers seized three mobile phones, thousands of rupees in cash, and 400 cartons of the fruit before fleeing with the vehicle towards Peshawar. Zahir Muhammad, the driver of the pickup, reported the incident to the police and said that he was transporting 400 cartons of persimmons from Shangla to the fruit market in Peshawar when the armed robbers clad in police uniform stopped them near the Taru Jabba Police checkpost.
The robbers snatched cash, and mobile phones from the traders, he said, adding that he stopped the vehicle as he believed the robbers to be genuine cops. He said the robbers, who were traveling in a black car, had chased their pick-up and intercepted it near a police barricade on the main GT Road in the limits of Pabbi Police Station.
