District admin yet to enforce official rates

LAHORE:The district administration has failed to control overcharging while a new department created to implement official rate lists and ensure availability of commodities at official rates also seems to be ineffective to control the price hike.

This week again a mixed trend in the prices of perishable items is recorded as rates of majority of vegetables and fruits increased. Non-implementation of official rate list has increased consumers’ woes, reflecting failure of elected representatives to bring down prices.

The price of chicken remained unchanged for third consecutive week and fixed at Rs397-411 per kg, sold at Rs460-480 per kg and chicken meat fixed at Rs595 per kg, and sold Rs670-1000 per kg.

The price of potato sugar free A-grade reduced by Rs2 per kg, fixed at Rs77-83 per kg, sold at Rs140-150 per kg, B-grade at Rs65-70 per kg, and C-grade at Rs55-60 per kilogram, mixed sold at Rs100-120 per kg. The price of onion A-grade declined by Rs15 per kg, fixed at Rs125-135 per kg, sold at Rs180-200per kg, B-grade by Rs10 per kg, fixed at Rs113-120 per kg, and C-grade at Rs100-105 per kg, mixed sold at Rs140-150 per kg.

The price of different variety of apples fixed at Rs100-230 per kg, sold at Rs150-400 per kg. The price of Banana A-category fixed at Rs120-125 per dozen, sold at Rs180 per dozen, and B-category reduced by Rs5 per dozen, fixed Rs85-90 per dozen, sold at Rs130-150 per dozen.

Pomegranate desi was further gained by Rs20 per kg, fixed at Rs275-285 per kg, sold at Rs300-350 per kg, pomegranate kandahari further reduced by Rs10 per kg, was fixed at Rs225-235 per kg, sold at Rs300-350, pomegranate Bedana was fixed at Rs415-435 per kg, sold at Rs600-800 per kg.

Dates Irani fixed at Rs415-425 per kg, sold at Rs800 to 1400 per kg. Papaya further gained by Rs20 per kg, fixed at Rs255-265 per kg, sold at Rs300-350 per kg. Grapes Sunderkhani fixed at Rs285-295 per kg, sold at Rs400-500 per kg, grapes gola reduced by Rs15 per kg, fixed at Rs177-185 per kg, sold at Rs250-300 per kg, grapes tofi was fixed at Rs275-285. Sold at Rs400-500 per kg.
