ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday visited the Jinnah Convention Centre to review the arrangements for the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Council of Heads of Government scheduled for October 15-16.
On the occasion, the prime minister was briefed by the Capital Development Authority (CDA) chairman and Ministry of Foreign Affairs officials, PM Office Media Wing said in a press release.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar and other relevant authorities also accompanied the prime minister.
Shehbaz expressed his satisfaction over the preparations made for the SCO meeting. The Jinnah Convention Centre has been transformed into a state-of-the-art conference hall as per global standards by redecorating and overhauling it to host the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit. The CDA has completely overhauled it at a cost of more than Rs1 billion. The CDA staff has completed this project in 45 days by working day and night.
New furniture has been purchased. There are 2,000 chairs for the guests while there are special chairs for the delegates. Over 100,000 square feet of new carpets have been laid and more than 80 washrooms have been renovated.
