The Special Investigation Unit (SIU) announced the arrest of an alleged extortionist during a raid in Orangi Town on Friday.
The suspect, identified as Imran alias Shaka, was accused of demanding extortion from the owner of a hardware store in Raees Amrohi Goth Colony on September 21. He allegedly sought Rs100,000 in extortion.
According to the SIU, the suspect had confessed to being involved in more than two dozen extortion and robbery incidents in Orangi Town. During one such incident, he reportedly injured an individual in Jauharabad. Based on his information, authorities had also arrested his accomplice, Raheela, and gang leader Kashif. Further raids are ongoing to apprehend additional associates. A mobile phone and SIM card used in the extortion were recovered from the arrested suspect, as reported by the SIU spokesperson.
