The chancellor of Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology (SSUET), Jawaid Anwar, paid tribute to Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan on the occasion of his 3rd death anniversary on Friday.

Anwar announced the establishment of Dr Qadeer Khan Chair to honour the legacy of the founder of Pakistan’s nuclear program. In his tribute, Anwar highlighted Dr Khan’s pivotal role in strengthening Pakistan’s defense capabilities through his exceptional skill, determination, and patriotism. “His name will always be written in golden letters in the history of Pakistan,” he stated, noting that Dr Khan focused on his mission despite numerous challenges, ultimately achieving remarkable success.

Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan Chair aimed to promote research and development in science and technology, fostering collaboration with the corporate sector. It would serve as a repository for materials related to Dr Khan’s contributions and achievements. The SSUET had also published a souvenir book titled “The Sir Syed Ahmed Khan Peace Award Presented to Dr AQ Khan,” which documents his personality and social services.
