The Nazir of the Sindh High Court (SHC) has expressed disappointment with an alleged attempt to encroach upon 30 acres of precious land, currently under his (Nazir’s) supervision following a court order.
The subject land, valued at billions of rupees, is located in Deh Dih of District Korangi, Karachi.
In a stern warning, the Nazir called out the deputy commissioner of Korangi, along with subordinate officials and the survey superintendent, stating that their actions could be deemed contempt of court.
According to official records, the Nazir has been overseeing a 30-acre plot where work is underway to construct a boundary wall and finalise the land’s demarcation, ensuring it is handed over to its rightful owner, following a court order in suit number 752 of 2023.
As per official correspondence, an inspection was conducted on October 2, 2024, in respect of land (Na-Class number 354 and 24). Meanwhile, the survey superintendent reported that a sketch has been received from the DC office, indicating intent for surveying land within the boundaries of the same land, which is under the supervision of Nazir.
The Nazir in his letter was of the view that this sketch pertains to the allotment of land to a political personality; however, the official record shows that the land of the political person is located elsewhere, raising concerns that certain government officials are attempting to assign survey numbers of the political person to the subject land improperly and with a malafide intention.
The Nazir also declared the representation of the Sindh Survey office and the Korangi mukhtiarkar as biased.
The official letter added that additionally, it has been indicated by the decree-holder that certain individuals, allegedly in collusion with revenue officials and police of District Korangi, are attempting to trespass on the subject land. The Nazir has reiterated that any alterations or unauthorized actions regarding the land must not occur without court approval, and if any such actions are taken, it will lead to contempt proceedings against those involved.
The Nazir has directed the revenue officials that the Gath Wadh form, all related sketches and correspondence concerning the alleged trespass must be submitted without delay.
This situation underscores the need for strict adherence to legal protocols to protect the integrity of property rights and judicial authority.
Masood Bhutto, deputy commissioner of Korangi, told The News that he has been recently posted, so he is unable to comment on the matter. Mr. Bhutto said this is an issue of the previously posted officer and after going through the file of the matter he will be able to give his opinion. He added that no record has been submitted to the Nazir by his office to date.
When this reporter contacted Survey Superintendent Irfan Nizamani for his point of view, he conveyed a brief reply through his WhatsApp number, saying that the matter is in the court, and he is sick and in a hospital.
