MKRMS face-to-face discussion: Steps to be taken to ensure quality education: Haider

LAHORE: It is the responsibility of the government to provide young generation with every educational facility, said Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider during a face-to-face discussion with students held by Mir Khalil-ur-Rahman Memorial Society (MKRMS) of Jang Group of Newspapers.

“We will take important steps. We need to improve the quality of education in schools and we are determined to provide education to every child of the country,” the governor said, adding, “Our country is built in the name of Kalma Tayyaba and no one can erase it. Pakistan is a great blessing from Allah Almighty. We should be proud that we are a part of this country. Our young generation is the capital of this country and it is the responsibility of the government to provide them with every educational facility.

“We will take important steps. We need to improve the quality of education in schools and we are determined to provide education to every child of the country. We will establish student councils in universities very soon.”

The face-to-face discussion programme was organised by senior journalists Wasif Nagi and Raees Ansari. Aimon Bint Shahid, Fatima Ejaz, Fatima Khan, Shamale Nauman, Sidra, Yusra Baig, Dr M Ali, Farah Khan, Asifa Khan, Fiza Khan, Anam Talib, Ayesha Bukhari, Ayesha Siddique, Ms Ayeza, Assistant Director Student Affairs, Zainab Yasin, Hadiya Rehman, Anaya Zafar, Miral Zeest, Syeda Momina Aamir, M Saim and Zubia Lodhi participated.

The governor said, “We should not consider ourselves inferior to other countries under any circumstances, Allah has special mercy on Pakistan.

“Good and bad times come to nations. In the past, people of China had very bad conditions, but when they became a nation, they set an example for the world.

“Similarly our country has abundant natural resources but lack of system. We have engineers, sportsmen and many talents. You have to look at your homeland with love, with this country, Allah has given you a lot as a reward. It is nowhere to be found.

“There are mountains of gold, copper, and so much coal that we cannot run out if we continue to use it for 300 years. If solar systems are fully installed here, we do not need IPP. There is no need for furnace oil. We have been affected by climate change but it is not due to dams.

“This country has to be fixed by our young generation. Our young generation is very valuable to us. The government is taking steps to eliminate shortage of teachers in schools and colleges.
