MULTAN: The City Police smashed a Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf protest call in Multan on Friday that had besieged Chowk Ghanta Ghar, the protest venue.
The party’s new protest schedule included rallies in Multan and Sahiwal on October 11, Gujranwala and Sargodha on October 12, Dera Ghazi Khan on October 13, and Lahore and Faisalabad on October 11 and 14.
PTI workers had communicated with one another to reach Chowk Ghanta Ghar for the protest, but the police took positions across the spot. The police detained scores of workers in the city and also raided the residence of PTI MPA Nadeem Qureshi. They arrested his driver and security guard.
Meanwhile, PTI MPA Moen Riaz Hussein Qureshi led a group of workers and appeared from a street and chanted slogans at Chowk Ghanta Ghar. The police arrested him. They also arrested PTI MPA Adnan Dogar but he escaped from custody.
The PTI lawyers also staged a protest at the DC Office and Chungi No 7, led by Zahid Bahar Hashmi who addressed the workers. PTI women workers also participated in the protest.
