JHANG: District Health Authority’s Administrator/DC Muhammad Umair has directed the officials concerned to administer polio drops to every child under five years of age during the ongoing campaign by enforcing the micro plan.

He emphasised the need for a comprehensive awareness campaign to achieve a 100pc target during the anti-polio drive. He issued these directions while chairing a special meeting held to review the progress of the anti-polio drive, which would conclude on November 1. Health CEO Dr Ahmed Shahzad, DHO Dr Iftikhar Noor, IRMNCH and Nutrition Programme District Coordinator Dr Emreen Sarwar, Deputy DHO Dr Asim Raza Mir, Education DEO Nasreen Abdullah and others were also present.

The meeting was informed that during the campaign, over 581,759 children under the age of five years would be administered anti-polio drops in the district. The DC expressed satisfaction over the arrangements and instructed health administrators that no child should be left without receiving polio drops as the government was following a zero-tolerance policy regarding any laxity in this matter. He stressed that all public health outlet staff, including those posted at BHUs and RHCs, must ensure the success of the anti-polio drive.

He directed that during the campaign, special attention should be given to the bus and wagon stands and schools to ensure that no child travelling with parents and studying in

the schools leaves without receiving the anti-polio drop.

The DC also stated that all administrative officers and senior doctors should personally visit various areas to monitor the performance of health workers. While speaking to media, DC Muhammad Umair stated that the assistant commissioners of Jhang, Shorkot, Ahmadpur Sial and Athara Hazari would also monitor the health teams. The staff from the education and other allied departments would also perform duty to ensure the success of the campaign, the DC added.
