LAHORE: The Punjab government has imposed Section 144 in eight districts with an immediate effect.
According to a notification issued by the Punjab Home Department, the Section 144 has been enforced for three days in Multan, Sahiwal, Sargodha, Gujranwala, Vehari, Pakpattan, Okara, Wazirabad and Khanewal.
The ban, effective from October 10 to 12, prohibits all forms of political gatherings, sit-ins, rallies, protests and similar activities in these districts. The decision to enforce Section 144 was made upon requests from the respective district administrations, as noted in the notification. It states that due to security threats, any public gathering could become a soft target for terrorists.
The restrictions have been imposed to ensure law and order and protect human lives and property.
