ISLAMABAD: Harry Brook, who became the first England batsman to score triple century in 34-year time, said he was happy to take the team to a strong position.

“The wicket was perfect for batting as I enjoyed batting here. Besides making an effort to help the team get a big total, there was one more thing that was in my mind and that was my Dad’s 210. I did not know about England’s highest individual score of 363. For me, my team’s cause was more important.”

Together with Root, he put on 454 for the fourth wicket that broke all the previous records for the highest partnership for any wicket for England. Brook praised England bowlers for putting up pressure on the Pakistan batsmen on the fourth day. “A wicket on the first ball in Pakistan’s second innings helped bowlers put extra pressure on the Pakistan team. Same pressure we built when we batted earlier on the fourth day morning. The wicket was amazing for batsmen, especially on the third day.
