RAWALPINDI/FAISALABAD: The security forces thwarted an attempt of terrorists to enter a camp of Frontier Corps (FC) in Zhob district of Balochistan on Wednesday morning. In the exchange of fire, a soldier was martyred and two terrorists were killed. Also, in North Waziristan, two Khwarij were eliminated in an intelligence-based operation (IBO) by the security forces.
In Zhob district, two terrorists, including a suicide bomber, and a high-value target terrorist, Umar alias Umari, were sent to hell, before they could cause the intended damage, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement. Terrorist Umar alias Umari was involved in numerous terrorist activities against security forces as well as innocent civilians, including the recent attack on convoy of Deputy Commissioner Sherani.
However, during the intense exchange of fire, Havildar Jamshed Khan (39), a resident of Dera Bugti district, embraced Shahadat. Sanitisation operation is being conducted to neutralise any other terrorists present in the area.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the security forces for foiling the terrorist attempt to enter the camp of Frontier Corps and paid tribute to Shaheed Havildar Jamshed Khan for rendering the ultimate sacrifice. He also reaffirmed the resolve to eliminate the menace of terrorism from the country.
Separately, security forces killed two Khwarij in an IBO in North Waziristan. The security forces conducted the IBO in general area Mir Ali in North Waziristan district, on reported presence of Khwarij. An intense fire exchange took place between troops and Khwarij and, resultantly, two Khwarij were sent to hell. Weapons, ammunition and explosives were recovered from the killed Khwarij, who remained actively involved in numerous terrorist activities against the security forces as well as targeted killing of civilians in the area. Sanitisation operation is being carried out to eliminate any other Khwarij found in the area.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif visited the family of Lieutenant Colonel Muhammad Ali Shaukat, who was martyred while fighting against terrorists in North Waziristan. He offered condolences and prayed for the departed soul at the martyr’s ancestral home in Faisalabad. The prime minister was accompanied by Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, Adviser for Interprovincial Coordination Rana Sanaullah and Senator Talal Chaudhry.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed deep respect and pride for the martyrs of the Pakistan armed forces, stating that the sacrifices of officers and soldiers for the nation’s security can never be forgotten. He added that the entire Pakistani nation is indebted to its martyrs and their families. The prime minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to eradicating terrorism, praising the successful operations conducted by security forces against terrorists.
