ISLAMABAD: Judge Abual Hasnat Zulqarnain of the Anti-Terrorism Court has granted bail to Mustafin Kazmi following his arrest in connection with the protest by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf lawyers outside the Supreme Court.

Advocates Iman Mazari and Hadi Ali represented Kazmi, while prosecutor Raja Naveed opposed the bail application, arguing that Kazmi had raised slogans against the judiciary. Naveed emphasised that the judiciary is a sacred institution of the country and that Tehreek-e-Insaf workers had repeatedly attacked such institutions. He claimed that Kazmi, along with other PTI workers and leaders, had incited the public against these institutions. Kazmi’s lawyers highlighted his poor health, asserting that he was inside the courtroom at the time of the protest and had not participated in the demonstration outside the Supreme Court. After hearing the arguments from both sides, the court approved Kazmi’s bail against a surety bond of Rs30,000. In a separate case, Judge Abual Hasnat Zulqarnain also granted bail to nine women workers of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf in connection with the protest at D Chowk. Advocates Niazullah Niazi and Babar Awan appeared on behalf of the accused, and after concluding their arguments, the court granted bail on surety bonds of Rs30,000 each. The women granted bail were; Farah Anjum, Saba Waheed, Siddiqa Malik, Tahira Hussain, Abida Malik, Shaheen Hashmi, Shumaila Iftikhar, Saima Jamshed, and Hameeda.
