From Our Correspondent
JHANG: Garh Maharaja police on Sunday registered a first information report (FIR) against 750 accused, including 50 nominated, about the firing incident in which three men were killed and 24 others injured three days ago.
Hazrat Sultan Bahu shrine’s caretaker family members have also been nominated in the FIR registered under sections 302, 325, 109, 148, 149, 447 and 511 of the PPC.
Meanwhile, hundreds of devotees and followers of Hazrat Sultan Bahu from different parts of the country have reached Garh Maharaja to protect the shrine’s caretaker family members.
An old dispute over the ownership of 455 kanal agriculture land created the law and order situation when local revenue officials with the support of police had allegedly tried to give the possession to another party three days ago.
As soon as the revenue officials and police left the area, both groups opened fire at each other. Resultantly, three men were killed and 24 others injured.
Meanwhile, DPO Humayun Masood said that the FIR had been registered on an application of Hafiz Haq Nawaz Kharal. He, however, said that investigation would be conducted on merit. He said that police were present in the area to control the law and order situation.
