LAHORE: Pakistan’s head coach Jason Gillespie commended England’s batting display on the third day of the first Test, while expressing confidence that Pakistan can bounce back in the remaining days.
“England played very well today. Credit must be given to how they approached the innings,” Gillespie said at a press conference following the day’s play. Gillespie felt that Pakistan’s bowlers had bowled well in intervals. “We bowled well in phases, and the plan was to bowl straight and limit boundaries,” he explained.
He acknowledged the challenge of bowling on a batting-friendly pitch but emphasised that disciplined bowling could still yield results. “The pitch was certainly favourable for batting, but if we bowl in the right areas, we can still get good results.”
He emphasised the importance of taking early wickets on Thursday (today) to shift the pressure back onto England. “We’ll look to take early wickets in the morning and put pressure on England,” he said.
