‘Missing’ Adiala jail deputy found

He was accused of facilitating the PTI founder and taken into custody for power abuse

LAHORE: Former deputy Superintendent of Adiala Jail, Muhammad Akram, who had been missing for two months, has been traced.

Muhammad Akram is currently on a three-day physical remand with the Anti-Corruption Establishment, Sheikhupura, which registered a case against him for accepting Rs95,000 in bribe on the complaint of a citizen, Riyaz Qureshi. A team is investigating him and he will be produced in court on October 10.

Akram’s detention was reported in August. He was accused of facilitating the PTI founder and taken into custody for power abuse.

Recently, the Punjab government had dismissed four officials, including Deputy Superintendent Muhammad Akram and Assistant Superintendent Riaz Khan of Adiala Jail Rawalpindi.
