PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Tuesday granted transit bail to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shibli Faraz and Member National Assembly Shandana Gulzar.
A single bench of Justice Shakeel Ahmad granted both leaders transit bail until November 8.Their lawyer, Moazzam Butt, informed the court that cases had been registered against his clients in Islamabad and Attock, and they feared arrest. He requested the court to grant the bail so that they could appear before the relevant courts.
During the proceedings, Justice Shakeel Ahmad remarked that the three-day road closures caused political unrest and created hardships for the people. He called for resolving issues through dialogue in Parliament for the betterment of the country. Addressing Shibli Faraz directly, he noted, “You come from an educated family, and you bear more responsibility to avoid causing harm to the nation.”
Talking to reporters after the hearing, Shandana Gulzar expressed concerns about the possibility of more cases being filed against her.She said the ongoing legal actions were politically motivated. She claimed that these tactics were being used ahead of constitutional amendments.
