7 PU scholars get PhD degrees

LAHORE:Punjab University has awarded PhD degrees to seven of its scholars.

Madiha Asif has been awarded PhD degree in the subject of Geo-Environmental Conservation and Sustainable Development, Abida Yasin in the subject of Law & Human Rights, Beenish Mubeen in the subject of Applied Psychology, Muhammad Khaleel in the subject of Agricultural Sciences (Plant Pathology), Muhammad Faisal in the subject of Islamic Studies, Sheereen Gull in the subject of Biological Sciences, Rumana Siddiqui in the subject of Geography, Tariq Mahmood in Applied Geology, Noor Asfia in Total Quality Management and Ehtisham Ali in Communication Studies.

Seminar on ‘Drug-free Pakistan’

Directorate Students Affairs of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) in collaboration with Anti- Narcotics Force (ANF) Pakistan arranged a seminar on Counter Narcotics Campaign in Educational Institutions with the theme 'One Nation, One Destination: Drug-Free Pakistan' at City Campus here on Tuesday.

According to a press release, UVAS Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Younus, Deputy Director Drug Demand Reduction Branch and Model Addict's Treatment & Rehabilitation Centre Maj (R) Muhammad Nazir co-chaired the seminar while faculty members, students and officials from ANF were also present. Speaking on the occasion, Prof Dr Muhammad Younus said narcotics addiction was not only injurious for people’s health but they even faced economic and social crises and it was direly needed to work for the eradication of narcotics from society. The objective of the seminar was to combat the menace of narcotics under the counter narcotics campaign against drug prevalence in educational institutions.
