KARACHI: Former Pakistan Test cricketer Jalaluddin has said that the third day of the first Test between Pakistan and England at Multan would be crucial for both teams and Pakistan should adopt attacking and aggressive game planning to bowl out England and take lead of 150–200 runs.
Jalaluddin, who has PCB level 4 and ECB level 3 coaching certifications, told The News that Pakistan batting line up was successful in scoring a mammoth 556 but it would be beneficial only if Pakistan bowlers manage to bowl England out under 400 runs.
Taking a lead of at 150 plus runs would give Pakistan a chance to win the match, he said. Jalaluddin said that England would go on attacking as they do not play for draw. He said that after scoring 556 runs Pakistan has come in safe zone but should beware of England’s counter attacking game plan as they would score with fast batting approach. England’s batsman would make mistakes which Pakistan bowlers should make the most of, Jalaluddin added.
He said that the pitch is flat and ideal for batting, while England bowling line is also weak, as their spinners are not much experienced. He was of the view that the wicket would get even slower and might help spinners on the fifth day.
