The present condition of Patiala House, Lahore, which serves as the centre for all the CSS aspirants from across the length and breadth of Pakistan, is most disheartening. What is most alarming is the rampant illicit construction of extra floors on old structures. There is no effort whatsoever made by the Lahore Development Authority or any other concerned body to uphold the safety codes.
This negligence poses a great danger, which will most likely lead to a disaster and casualties. The narrow streets are crowded, mostly with rows of parked motorbikes and illegal encroachments, leaving little space for pedestrians. Although Patiala House is positioned near landmarks such as the Governor House and the official bungalows of government officers, this sad situation still persists. Such issues warrant urgent action from the relevant authorities.
