ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly Speaker has forwarded two references received against two MNAs of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for their disqualification.
The references for disqualification of Adil Khan Bazai (NA-262 Quetta) was received from the PML-N head Nawaz Sharif for defection from the PMLN Parliamentary Party under Article 63A of the Constitution.
Vacation of seat on declaration made under Article 63A by Nawaz Sharif as party head has been sought. The NA legal adviser has also forwarded decision of the Speaker on a reference to ECP secretary against Sohail Sultan (NA-4 Swat) of PTI under clause (2) of Article 63 of the Constitution for disqualification of MNA.
The Clause (3) of Article 63 says the ECP shall decide the question of disqualification within 90 days from its receipt or deemed to have been received and if it is of the opinion that the member has become disqualified, he shall cease to be a member and his seat shall become vacant.
