Court hands over Azam Swati to police on 3-day physical remand

Swati was produced before court in a terrorism case of registered in Kohsar Police Station after court time ended

ISLAMABAD. An anti-terrorism court handed over Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Azam Swati to the police on a three-day physical remand, while PTI MPAs Anwar Zeb and Malik Liaquat were handed over to the police on seven-day physical remand.

Swati was produced before the court in a terrorism case of registered in Kohsar Police Station after the court time ended. The PTI leader told the judge: “You were waiting for me.” Judge Tahir Abbas Sipra said: Swati sb, I did not sit only for you, there were around 200 people who were presented.”

Swati’s lawyer Sohail Swati said that his client was arrested on October 5 at 11:00 pm from Sangjani Police Station limits. Azam Swati is accused of providing financial support, the lawyer said, asking where was the evidence?

He said that it was an illegal allegation as Azam Swati did not join the PTI today. The PS Kohsar SHO said they need physical remand regarding phone recovery and financial support information.

The judge said that it was not believable that when Azam Swati was arrested, he had nothing with him. Azam Swati said that he had his mobile phones with him. The phones were handed over to the SHO of Sangjani police station, the lawyer said, adding that the police official should be asked for phones.

Kohsar Police Station SHO Shafqat Faiz requested a 30-day physical remand, the court reserved its decision on Azam Swati’s request for physical remand and later handed over Azam Swati to the police after accepting a three-day physical remand.

On the other hand, the police produced PTI MPAs Malik Liaquat and Anwar Zeb in the anti-terrorism court and requested for physical remand, the court handed over both the members of the provincial assembly to the police for seven days.
