PESHAWAR: A petition seeking transit bail for Senator Shibli Faraz was withdrawn as the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader could not appear before the Peshawar High Court (PHC).
PHC Chief Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim heard the petition of the PTI leader filed by his lawyer on his behalf.During the proceedings, his lawyer informed the court that a case had been filed against his client under terrorism charges at the Secretariat Police Station in Islamabad.
The lawyer said that Shibli Faraz intended to appear before the relevant court in Islamabad but feared arrest, and therefore he was seeking transit bail to ensure his appearance without being detained.
Chief Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim asked about the whereabouts of the petitioner to which Faraz’s lawyer responded that he had lost contact with him.The chief justice remarked that Shibli Faraz was in Islamabad, but the bail application had been filed in Peshawar. He said the petition should be filed when the PTI leader was present in court.
In response, Faraz’s lawyer requested permission to withdraw the petition, which the chief justice accepted. The chief justice advised him that a fresh petition could be submitted once the petitioner appeared before the court.
