Crackdown launched against profiteers in Abbottabad

ABBOTTABAD: The authorities here have launched a crackdown on overcharging by inspecting various super stores, petrol pumps, and bakers.

Ibrahim Khan, Assistant Director of Consumer Rights Abbottabad, who led the inspection teams, fined the violators on the spot and sealed illegal petrol-selling outletsThe inspections, directed by the director general of Industries and Commerce, were aimed at protecting the rights of consumers and ensuring compliance with government prices.

Stringent price control measures have been implemented, including surprise checks at markets and petrol pumps. The inspection team fined the violators for overcharging and non-display of price lists.

The public awareness campaigns are also being launched to educate consumers about their rights and reporting mechanismsThe team reported widespread overcharging at various markets and petrol pumps, particularly for essential commodities like wheat, rice, and sugar, as well as fuel prices. The officials have urged the consumers to report such incidents to the Consumers Rights Department. In a related development, Ibrahim Khan met the president of the local Trade Union, seeking support for Godwons registration. He sought suggestions from traders to control prices.
