PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Anti-Corruption Court on Monday sentenced a food inspector to 10 years in prison and imposed a fine of Rs1.4 million after finding him guilty of misappropriation of thousands of sacks of government wheat.
The verdict was delivered in connection with a scandal dating back to 2013-2014 when the inspector in question misappropriated 5,574 sacks of wheat, causing a financial loss of Rs14.9 million to the national treasury. The convicted official, Dinar Wali, served as a food grain inspector at the government warehouse in Koragh, Chitral, during the time of the offense.
