Islamabad: The Riphah Institute of Lifestyle Medicine, in collaboration with the Pakistan Association of Lifestyle Medicine (PALM), hosted the 5th International Conference on Lifestyle Medicine Retreat from October 4 to 6.

Held at the serene Highland Country Club, this first-of-its-kind retreat-style conference in Pakistan offered participants a unique opportunity to explore the latest advancements in lifestyle medicine within a peaceful and rejuvenating environment. Over the course of three days, attendees engaged in workshops, scientific sessions, and insightful discussions, all while enjoying wellness activities such as early morning meditation and nature walks to enhance their well-being.

The event featured remarks by Hassan Muhammad Khan, Chancellor of Riphah International University (RIU), who emphasised the importance of the Lifestyle Medicine Conference . Distinguished speakers included Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Anis Ahmed, Dr. Zia Abbas, President of PALM, Dr. Shagufta Feroz, Director of the Riphah Institute of Lifestyle Medicine, Dr. Beth Frates, President of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine, Dr. Munira Abbasi, Vice President of PALM, along with other esteemed national and international experts. Themed ‘Health Revolution: Lifestyle Medicine as Your First Choice for Health,’ the conference highlighted how lifestyle interventions can be integrated into the healthcare system to prevent, treat, and reverse cardiometabolic conditions, such as heart disease and diabetes.

Participants left the retreat feeling inspired and invigorated, having had the chance to connect with global experts, share knowledge, ability to make meaningful connections and contribute to the growing movement of lifestyle medicine, all while surrounded by the beauty of nature.
