Sindh Local Government Minister Saeed Ghani has said the ego and stubbornness shown by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan has pushed the country to the verge of destruction.

The local government minister stated this on Sunday while addressing a press conference at the media cell of the Bilawal House. Sindh vice president of the Awami National Party Niaz Muhammad Khan also announced his decision to join the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) along with his fellow party office-bearers and workers on the occasion.

Ghani, who is also the Karachi PPP president, told media persons that the PPP did not desire imposition of the governor’s rule in any province. He said that following the passage of the 18th Constitutional Amendment, the process of imposition of the governor’s rule in any province had become lengthy and cumbersome.

He lamented that the conduct of Ali Amin Gandapur did not suit the constitutional office of a provincial chief minister as he had been acting more like an activist of the PTI. He lamented that Khan’s ego had no regard for Pakistan and the PTI founder had proved that he was an anti-state politician.

Ghani recalled that during the 2014 sit-in in Islamabad, the PTI founder had threatened the IG and DIG, orchestrated attacks on the Parliament House and PTV, and compelled people to resort to civil disobedience in the country. The PPP leader said Khan became an anti-establishment politician the day he lost the military’s patronage. He added that during his regime, the PTI founder was more focussed on the opposition than the revival of the economy.

Ghani recalled that workers and supporters of the PTI resorted to violent protests against the military after Khan was arrested.
