Murad, Anjum in National Badminton C’ship final
LAHORE: Murad Ali (KP) and Anjum Bashir (Pak Army) qualified for the final of men’s singles of the 61st National Badminton Championship while in the women’s singles, Ms Mahoor Shahzad (Wapda) and Ms Ghazala Siddique of Wapda reached the finals. Miss Mahoor Shahzad will defend the Women singles championships. In the men’s doubles final Murad Ali & Azeem Sarwar will meet Raja Hasnain & Raja Zulqarnain of Army.
In the Men Singles Semi Final, Anjum Bashir (Army) beat Awais Zahid (Wapda) by 21-7, 22-24, 21-11, Murad Ali (KP) beat Muqeet Tahir (Wapda) by 21-19, 19-21, 21-14 In the Women Singles Semi Final, Ghazala Siddique (Wapda) beat Zubaira Islam (SNGPL) by 21-9, 21-18, Mahoor Shahzad (Wapda) beat Ammarah Ishtiaq (Army) 21-8, 21-19. In the Men Doubles Semi Final, Raja Hasnain & Raja Zulqarnain (Army) beat Anjum Bashir (Army) & Zunain Javed (Wapda) by 21-18, 21-17, Azeem Sarwar (Wapda) & Murad Ali (KP) beat Muqeet Tahir (Wapda) & M Adnan (Army) 13-21, 21-16, 21-16
Earlier, the quarterfinals of men singles, women singles and men doubles are completed. In the women category, doubles and mixed doubles, the quarter final and semi-finals were played. In Men singles defending National Champion Irfan Saeed lost quarterfinal against Anjum Bashir of Army.
