Mehwish wins Nordic Junior Open Squash
KARACHI: Mehwish Ali of Pakistan captured the Nordic Junior Open Squash Championship title in Sweden with a commanding performance. Mehwish, unseeded in the tournament, defeated second-seeded Ciara Boulanger of France in the final, winning in straight sets 11-5, 11-7, 12-10.
Her road to the championship started in Group D, where she earned a 3-0 victory over Norway’s Vilde Odeh, followed by another 3-0 win against Denmark’s Camilla Thomsen. In the quarterfinals, she edged out her sister, Mahnoor, in a tough match. She advanced to the semifinals, where she defeated Belgium’s Alice Allard. Last month, Mehwish won a bronze medal at the Danish Junior Open. Her sisters, Sehrish and Mahnoor, also had strong finishes in the Nordic Open, placing fourth and fifth, respectively.
